The State Senate also passed Assembly Bill 209, which authorizes counties to contribute to the capital improvements of domestic violence shelters. The measure was sought after the Marathon County Board acted to contribute funding for a local domestic violence shelter, but was prevented from doing so because of a legal opinion stating the county lacked statutory authority.
The Assembly also recently passed Assembly Bill 410, which closes the domestic violence arrest loophole. And, that body passed the Lock Out Abusers Act, Assembly Bill 400. See WCADV's press release for more information.
